My dealer has told me that he can take my 4300 back and get me a 850 or 950 , or he can get me a 4300 with hydro. Before I decide I need some info on the 850 and 950 as I'm not familiar with them and since its a discontinued model theres no info on the Deere website. Can anyone tell me some specs on those two models? HP, what type transmissions available, lift capacity of loader and 3pt. hitch, differences between it them and the 4000 series? Thanks,Mike

870 has:28.7hp,25pto hp,collar shift or synchromesh tranny wet disk brakes, hydrostatic power steering, hitch liftof 1880lbs continuous live pto,3ranges with 3speeds forward and one reverse or 9forward and 3 reverse when you multiply by the ranges, 123 long and 53.3 wide depending on the position of the wheels, {mine is 63"wide}and weighs in at 2760 w/4wd. the 970is 35 hp and 30hp pto, same choices in tranny , hitch lift of 2020lbs wet disk brakes ,123 long and57.7 wide and weighs in at 3045lbs w/4wd most everything else is the same as the 870 , In both instances no plastic except a little on the hood. The 870 is the close equivilent of the 4300 and both are close on specs. You probable won't be able to tell the differenc in performance. The chat on this board is leaning heavily towards the hydro type of tractor ,I don't have any experience with the hydro but it sounds as if it has a lot of positives. If I were in your shoes, I probably would go with the newer model for future resale and would seriously try a hydro out. My 870 is a bear and nothing has even made it breathe hard yet. Why are you giving up one 4300 for another? ....

Because I don't like the collar shift transmission, so I'm going to get another 4300, but with the hydro trans. So far I've like everything else about the 4300, just had problems with that type of transmission. ....
